I remember something that my parents told me. Not only do I remember it, but I also revere and respect those words more than anything, and they have never failed me.
"Remember always to stand with courage and conviction with the choice you make in life. It builds character."
This lesson taught me what responsibility meant. Owning up a task or a work such that it gives you the strength to face the failure the task might bring. It taught me not to give up and to attempt the work again till I am successful.
It taught me that the failure was not because of who I am but because of what I did. It did not define me. Instead, it got me to innovate my approach, open my mind to new and unknown techniques to attempt once again.
This thought which my parents planted in my impressionable mind when I was young built an attitude of never giving up in life. It helps build my credibility each time.
