I am a bureaucrat
Divide and rule,
The Corrupt’s biggest tool.
Remember the crooked monkey
Whom two cats asked to divide a roti?
Bit by bit the smart ape ate
every bite balancing the heavy plate
while the light Facetious cats were left with naught
The Semian benefitted while the cats fought.
I am a common man
I had to give a lecture on corruption
I was late in reaching my destination
Traffic signals caused a further obstruction
I had to jump the red light out of compulsion.
How could I reach late for the function?
The traffic police did not listen to my reason or compunction
He perhaps wanted his small, little compensation
I shoved a Rs 100 note to stop his question
And I ran off to give a lecture on corruption!
I am a politician
If You are hungry I will bring God
If You are angry I will bring a sword
If You want to speak against a scandal
I will send my guys to handle
I know how to make a thief run
and when to wake up the watchman
I am a seasoned politician
I have the power, I have the nation!
I am the media
I am the opinion leader
I am attached to a feeder.
I am supposed to speak my mind
But after being prompted from behind
I am so good at doing full coverage
For whatever you mean by that phrase
I have to be obedient to the powers that be
My opinion is censored though my country is free!
I am the internet
Social media Creates utopia
Virushka’s wedding or Sridevi’s funeral
Reduced me and my folk to a lesser mortal
I was on the verge of dementia!
Dream India
When noise transforms in a voice
And pandemonium gives way to poise
Where money doesn’t make the mare go
Where ethics prevail over self and ego
Where religion doesn’t work as opiate
Where power doesn’t corrupt and vitiate
Where common man defines the constitution
Where transparency defines every institution.
Where there is no dystopia.
I dream of such an India!
