Pandemic

By Sahana Sundar

The divine providence is lost in pandemic,

An affected innocent in a state of delirium,

The darkness laughs as the light dims,

Quivering behind curtains in wings of sleep.

Mourning relatives pray to give him breath,

They run in search of remdesivir and plasma,

In the silent days when transport suspends,

Between the blood banks all in vain.

Friends are hooked to several calls,

Dialling all the numbers that claim to help,

It all sounds so amazing like a slogan,

Many are fake and the triumph declines.

We want to lend him our eyes, blood and a will to live,

We want to speak, rouse him and save him yet,

But the shuddering pandemic is too infectious,

We grope in dark dreading to be by his side.

The cruel clutches of death take him away,

Shaking, unsteady flickering we fade,

He disappears into a dim dark world,

We continue to live with quarantine and lockdown!
